The 2-1-5 Rule

Rep-count tracking is useful, but speak the language of your muscle tissue! Safely rep ‘til failure. Let the mind deeply focus. Vibe out to the tunes. Make love to hypertrophy.
Don’t log and track your reps.
Count like this: “2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1”
…until you hit that first “1” where you want to quit. Then, rep up to 5 without losing proper form: 2, 3, 4, 5.
That 5th rep looks like this…

Not many podcast episodes I can say with certainty changed the trajectory of my life. This is a particularly powerful conversation that injects fuel deep inside your metaphysical being. Two very strong humans here; David Goggins only does around 2 podcasts a year.
Big Jumps
Take a moment, and identify 2-3 massive jumps you made within any journey you’ve been on for years.
Studying habits, work habits, creative talents, physical habits, etc.
Making a long story short: a melting pot of derivatives including ice hockey injuries added to the perpetual fight with gravity (being a white collar yellow labrador woof woof woof) led to chronic & day-altering thoracic pain for about 900 days in a row.
At almost every moment of the day, I was riddled with deep tissue pain. It is a horrible feeling. I write this to urge you guys to zoom out objectively at each problem present right now, and find the big jumps to elevate life on Earth.

Peace ensues.
Fulfillment climbs.
But…problems are perpetually planted in our lives, derived from the second law of thermodynamics: entropy. It is a rigid law of physics that essentially says: everything in the world is moving towards disorder, unless you input work. More on combating entropicals another time /|\
The first Big Jump for that thoraci pain was this yoga pose called child’s pose. I imagined God’s hands gently shifting the discs of my spine.

The next Big Jump was the Jefferson Curl (which I found in this truly life-altering Dr. Berg video).
Note: the video was and is titled “Correct Forward Head Posture” and if I had never clicked on that one ducking video (that was not totally connected directly to my mid-back!), I may still be in thoracic agony. Whimpering like a lil pup at the end of each doggy day :(

The first time I tucked and ducked into this motherducking curl, I nearly cried of demonic leeches harbored in my muscle tissue forced out of me. After a few weeks…I could sit for an hour without pain for the first time in almost 3 years.
The Big Jumps are right around the corner, tapping their feet in our blind spots.
